Dog, bearded dragon among 24 passed animals found in soldier’s apartment

RICHLAND, S.C. —  An Army staff sergeant has been arrested after military found 24 passed animals in his deserted unit in South Carolina.

CBS associate WLTX reports 36-year-old Kurt Hafner was being evicted from his unit Apr 10 when Richland County Sheriff’s deputies found a carcasses of a bearded dragon, dual alligator gnawing turtles, a accumulation of snakes and a dog.

An animal abuse questioner for a department, Sgt. Joe Clarke, says a unit floors were lonesome in dog feces, garbage, ammunition and personal items.

Hafner is a staff sergeant during Fort Jackson and was a rappelling instructor. Authorities contend he deserted a unit in February, withdrawal a animals but food or water. He was incited over to a sheriff’s dialect Wednesday and faces 24 depends of ill diagnosis of animals. It’s misleading if he has a lawyer.
