Don’t get played by this well-spoken argument. For the Colson Center, I’m John Stonestreet with The Point.
If you’ve ever dug deeply into the discuss over abortion, you may have listened Judith Jarvis Thompson’s famous violinist evidence for the pro-choice position.
You watchful in a hospital and find yourself bending up to a famous violinist, who needs your physique to tarry for 9 months. If you unplug, the violinist will die.
Thompson compared this to pregnancy, and says a lady should be means to select to mislay her physique from her baby’s. But as my friend, Greg Koukl at Stand to Reason says, the violinist analogy for termination is not analogous.
For example, relatives shouldn’t be astounded when sex results in babies. If the act was consensual, the relatives are obliged for that baby’s existence, either they dictated pregnancy or not. No one just wakes up pregnant.
And for some-more on how to unstring this tough-sounding evidence for abortion, come to BreakPoint.org and click on this commentary. I’ll couple you to an essay by Koukl, and one by my BreakPoint colleague, Shane Morris.
