Humphrys then says: “And we could save you the difficulty as we could proffer that I’ve handed over already some-more than you f***ing earn but I’m still left with some-more than anybody else and that seems to me to be wholly just — something like that would do it?”

Sopel retorts: “Don’t…”

Humphrys adds: “Oh dear God. She’s actually suggested that you should remove money; you know that don’t you? You’ve review the thing scrupulously have you?”

JOHN HUMPHRYS: Ah. Can you hear me Sopel?

JON SOPEL: Humphrys we can hear you.

JH: Good, slight change of theme – the first doubt will be how much of your income you are prepared to palm over to Carrie Gracie to keep her and then a few comments about your other colleagues, you know, like the Middle East Editor and the other men who are earning too much…

JS: we mean, apparently if we are articulate about the range for the biggest redistribution I’ll have to come back and contend good approbation Mr Humphrys, but…

JH: And we could save you the difficulty as we could proffer that I’ve handed over already some-more than you f****** earn but I’m still left with some-more than anybody else and that seems to me to be wholly just – something like that would do it?

JS: Don’t…

JH: Oh dear God.  She’s actually suggested that you should you remove money; you know that don’t you? You’ve review the thing scrupulously have you?

JS: Yeah, we have. Yep.

JH: And the thought is that I’m not allowed to speak to her about it via the whole march of the programme.  Not a word.

JS: we mean… can we have this conversation… I’d adore to speak to you about it.

JH: Probably not now, yeah right.  So as distant as Trump’s concerned, what’s the top line?

The conversation, deemed by the span as zero “silly chaff between old mates” was met with ridicule from top BBC bosses who were “deeply unimpressed.”

A mouthpiece said: “This was an brash off-air review which the presenter regrets.

“The BBC is committed to getting its compensate structures right.”

The descent sell between 74-year-old Humphrys and 58-year-old Sopel followed the depart of one of the corporation’s many comparison journalists.

China Editor Carrie Gracie accused the BBC of having a “secretive and illegal compensate culture”, and claimed the organisation’s government was “breaking equivalence law” in how it paid its womanlike staff.

Gracie, a staff member for almost 30 years, done the bombshell allegations in a minute addressed to BBC viewers, citing the “crisis” over a gender compensate opening as the reason for her resignation.
