After spending the gratifying deteriorate in sunny Morocco last year, Tracey, Sharon and Dorien are back home in cold Essex for this year’s annual special – but this competence be their last Christmas all together.
“Tracey wants to downsize the residence to give her boys some money, which means two people competence be homeless,” teases Linda Robson, 59, who plays her. “Let’s just contend that doesn’t go down too well…”
While viewers will certainly rebel if Tracey goes forward and turfs her sister Sharon (Pauline Quirke)
and best frenemy Dorien (Lesley Joseph) out on to the street, Lesley assures us this hour-long one-off special will pleasure fans.
“One of the all-time favourite episodes was when we got stuck in a garage, so we wanted to do that kind of thing again,” smiles the 72 year old. “This year, they all go to church and get sealed in a crypt!”
It’s tough to trust it’s almost 30 years given the sitcom first aired, but Lesley reckons she knows the secret to its staying power.
“They are genuine people that viewers can describe to,” she says.
“I meet so many people who say: ‘Oh my God, everybody calls me Dorien!’ There is a chemistry between the characters, and also us as actresses, that you can’t invent. It comes opposite on screen how good we all get on.”
Indeed, the contingent see copiousness of any other off screen and will be getting together for their annual pre-Christmas lunch any day now.
“We take pressies for any other and the grandkids,” reveals Linda.
However, Lesley won’t be joining the girls to perspective the Christmas show.
“I am not very good at examination myself,” she admits. “I will watch it eventually, but it will be in a
nice still dilemma – with a whisky!”
