LEN Goodman fears Brendan Cole’s Strictly Come Dancing axing was his fault.
The 41-year-old veteran suggested his agreement had not been renewed for another series of the BBC dancing show during an coming on Lorraine last month.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, the 73-year-old said: “I’m so sad; we don’t know why.
“You can’t contend he didn’t do a good job. He did and there was always a bit of an corner with him: the bad child of ballroom – he didn’t mind responding you back.
“I wish me leaving didn’t means it and we just wish Anton doesn’t go the same way. It’d be a bloody tragedy – he’s got so much character.
“He’s superb for the show. But there always has been egos with the professionals and it was the same when we danced, with anything competitive.”
Len left his role as conduct judge on Strictly after the 2016 series and was transposed by Shirley Ballas.
Brendan had an on-air strife with the 57-year-old during last year’s series, and fans have blamed her for the New Zealander’s axing.
The Sun Online also suggested how the judges had given show bosses an final to give Brendan his marching orders after he “disrespected” Shirley on the show.
But with Brendan now focusing on the future, including a intensity pierce to the American chronicle of the show, Len hopes Strictly finds a British veteran dancer to reinstate him.
With just 4 of the 12 veteran dancers on the last series being British, he said: “‘I consider all those pros are shining but we do like that you’ve got Kevin [Clifton] from Grimsby, and Anton [Du Beke] from up the road.
“You don’t wish to finish up with a bucket of people from… you know… as good as they are.
“It’s good to have some British dancers in there.”
Len’s comments come after Anton, 51, revealed his extinction over Brendan’s departure, making him the last strange veteran on the show.
He said: “I was stunned… [Brendan’s talk on Lorraine] was one of the saddest things I’ve watched.
“I was sad for him and for me – I’m going to skip him enormously.
“There’s something about being with Brendan from the commencement – there’s only a few of us left…”
